Oh Canada…

Oh Canada,

My expression of my love and gratitude for you has perhaps been too reserved. Perhaps I have assumed you know just how my heart truly feels about you. Maybe I have been too shy and have withheld my true thoughts on what you mean to me.

Please don’t ever doubt how much I love you. Please don’t ever think I take you for granted.

You are so beautiful: from every angle and in every light, you are stunning.

You are moody: you can be so cold, distant and hard but also incredibly warm and comforting.

You are courageous: you stand up for yourself, even when others believe differently.

You are kind: you are a leader in this department, the world needs more kindness.

You do what is right: even when it is hard, doing the right thing, is never wrong!

You are accepting: I am thankful you accepted my husband, Max, as one of your own!

You are supportive: you gave me the belief I could do anything. Let me dream big.

You are a protector: I feel so safe with you and you look after everyone you care about.

I love and appreciate you Canada.

I love everything about you! I love how you look after me and how you nurture my family. I love how you keep us healthy and safe. I love how you look after our guests and invite others to come live with you. I love how you let us all have our own opinions and beliefs. I love that even when you argue with others, you treat them with kindness and respect. I love that you are my safe place.

If home is where the heart is, I am so very thankful that my heart lies entirely with you Canada.

With love and gratitude,

Kerrin Lee-Gartner
